The creator of Nier, Yoko Taro, has created the ultimate dystopia! With the Drakengard series and its sequel Nier, he plunges the player in an apocalyptic world where humanity has not survived. We haven't finished playing video games. Nier Automata has proven that there are no limits for a creator who has the ambition to elevate this medium to the rank of art in its own right. Yoko Taro has created a masterpiece that not only reinvents all the codes of the Japanese RPG, but also manages to touch the deepest meaning of what it means to play a video game: to connect players in a virtual universe and to move them in the depths of their soul. If we are surprised at first by the absurd and zany aspect of the game, it is because the artist is hiding his true motive. Yoko Taro, a great outsider in the ranks of video game authors, successfully managed to create an ultimate jewel out of utter confusion, and I truly hope that he will inspire/guide generations of creators onwards.
